Berlin-based, Colombian electro punk Cute Heels (Black Leather Records/Romance Moderne) inaugurates Adam Rivet's new imprint Kess Kill. There'll be music new and old on offer which in Rivet's words will "continue the legacy started 1979 to 1983 by bands like Liaisons Dangereuses, Tommi Stumpff, Xao Seffcheque, Geile Tiere and others. Music that oozed techno, long before techno was a concept." KESS01 starts things off in explosive fashion with A-side cut "Verge", this is gritty and overdriven EBM with hissing rhythm patterns and snarling arpeggios in the same vein as CCO, Slugbug or Silent Servant. On the flip we've got "Icarus" which follows in suit but this is more on the proper early 80's slant with another wicked arpeggio lead that sounds like early Portion Control or Skinny Puppy complete with harsh metallic strikes in the percussion. Tip!
